Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 lb bacon* chopped
  • 1 onion* thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter optional
  • 1 head cabbage* cored and sliced
  • 2 tbsp caraway seeds
  • 3 tbsp coarse mustard
  • 12 oz wheat beer*
  • 2 tbsp honey* or sugar
  • salt + pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a large saucepan, cook the bacon over low heat. Add the onions and sweat for 2 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and season.
  • Cook until cabbage is tender, about 30 minutes.

Notes

Serving suggestions: serve this hot or cold, as a side for chicken or pork.
