Strawberry Banana Smoothie

A recipe written for the Little Locavores, but readily enjoyed by all ages. Want to increase your kids’ greens intake? The orange juice helps make this green smoothie more palatable for little ones – AND helps increase nutrient absorption. Ingredients
  

  • 1 pint strawberries* fresh
  • 1 banana
  • 2 cups orange juice or 1 cup pineapple juice
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • 1 cup spinach* we like baby spinach here
  • 2 cups ice
  • hemp hearts optional
  • chia seeds optional

Instructions
 

  • Wash spinach and strawberries and remove the green tops (cut or pinch off).
  • Peel the banana and cut up a bit (great opportunity for knife skill practice!)
  • Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.

Notes

Recipe doubles well.
