Turtle Apple Slices
Fall! Harvest! Halloween! Whatever your reason for celebrating, these apple slices are perfect. Ingredients with an asterisk (*) are available seasonally right here in North Iowa! Click on select ingredients to find them nearby or stop by your local farmer’s market.

- Baking Sheet
- Parchment Paper
Ingredients
- 2 apples* sliced into ½" slices
- 1½ cups chocolate chips we like dairy-free dark chocolate
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- ⅔ cup pecans toasted
- flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Line a medium baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice apples into 1/2″ slices. Make a small incision in the bottom of the apple slices and stick in popsicle sticks.
- Melt chocolate in a double boiler or in 30 second intervals in the microwave stirring often. Mix coconut oil in with the melted chocolate.
- Dip apple slices in chocolate and place on prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with pecans and place in refrigerator to harden for 10 minutes. Melt caramel in a double boiler or microwave. You can also use caramel sauce. Drizzle with caramel and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Return to the refrigerator to harden again, this time for 5 minutes. Serve.
