The MISSION of The Healthy Harvest of North Iowa is to lead and strengthen diverse partnerships to build a sustainable regional and local food system that brings health and vitality to our communities.
It’s the VISION of Healthy Harvest of North Iowa is to be the resource for creating, developing, and supporting a community-based North Iowa regional food system.
Our priority focuses are:
- Production
- Distribution and Retail
- Access & Consumption
- Organizational Capacity
We pursue these priorities at the producer level by coordinating educational workshops, encouraging producer networks, providing technical support, and working on expanded market development. We publish the annual North Iowa Local Food Guide.
We pursue these priorities at the community level – connecting producers and food businesses and beginning local food system conversations that lead to programming.
We pursue these priorities at the regional level – facilitating the North Iowa Local Food Coalition's quarterly meetings. The Coalition seeks to be a broad based effort to help identify and connect the dots of relationship, technical, business, and communication assets of local and regional food system development that improves the health, economic, and environmental sustainability of producers and communities in North Iowa.
