Local Food Connections Field Day at Red Rooster Ranch

Mervin and Cherlyn Beachy own Red Rooster Ranch, a small farm is located just a few miles west of St Ansgar, Iowa. On their farm, they use sustainable methods, focusing especially on healthy, balanced soil. They are passionate about providing folks with real food packed with nutrition.

They are looking forward to sharing the details of how they raise grass-fed beef, all-natural pork and pastured chicken. They also have eggs from pastured laying hens and grow strawberries, cut flowers, and an array of vegetables.

The family-owned and -operated orchard specializes in naturally grown Aronia berries for about 5 years. Tom and Tonya will give tours of the orchard and explain the process from planting to harvest. There will be educational materials about the health benefits of Aronia berries, recipes to take home, a children’s activity, and refreshments.
